St Peter Chanel School is a small primary school based in sunny Otaki. The school is rich in local history, set in the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s church and with an onsite marae, Te Marae o Hine, they have a strong ties in their local community.
School principal Moarikura Johnson is glad they are now able to provide help to their community at a time of need with an AED they have been gifted as part of the Become a Heart Saver campaign.
Moarikura says, “Our church and marae are used on a regular basis by our community. We’ve had a few instances when people attending a funeral or a tangi have suffered a heart attack and CPR has had to be performed. It’s amazing to know that if that ever happens again we’ll be better prepared to help.”
Cigna, GrownUps and Heart Saver are delighted to donate an AED to St Peter Chanel School to help them take care of their whanau and wider community.
