We congratulate Bay of Plenty Rugby Union who recently used a grant to invest in 9 AEDs for their clubs around the Bay.
Having these defibs available in clubs means that not only are the players safer, but so are the refs, coaches, managers, supporters and whanau who turn up to practices and games.
Bay of Plenty Rugby’s Engagement and Relationships Manager Neil Alton says, “It was great to see the club’s representatives eager to be trained in the use of the defibs just in time for the start of the season.
Many of the clubs had stories of people who had suffered a cardiac arrest while at games and in some cases this had ended tragically.
The new equipment will enable clubs to deal with these situations more effectively and save lives.”
